  • Financial strength first. A- or better from AM Best. A guarantee is only as good as the balance sheet behind it.
  • Claims behavior. We track how carriers actually treat beneficiaries, not just what the brochure says.
  • Underwriting niches. The best carrier for a diabetic differs from the best for a pilot. Breadth is the product.
  • Policyholder track record. For IUL and annuities, we weight how carriers have treated existing customers' caps and rates over time.

Common questions

What does an AM Best rating actually mean?+

AM Best grades an insurer's ability to pay claims, from A++ down. We hold our shelf to A- or better, the range regarded as excellent or superior financial strength.

Is my policy with you or with the carrier?+

With the carrier. They issue the contract, hold the reserves and pay the claim. We are your agent of record: your advocate for service, changes and claims for the life of the policy.

What happens if a carrier fails?+

It is rare at the rating levels we require, and state guaranty associations provide a further backstop up to state-specific limits. Diversifying large amounts across carriers is a strategy we will discuss when relevant.
